This is a set of 3 lithograph Hikifuda(handbill) dated Meiji 27,28 and 32. (1,894-1,899) Hikifuda is a small handbill used to advertise shops and products to customers and calendar like this is handed out during new year.This custome started during the middle of Edo era and designs bacame very elaborated.This is from from Kimono stores. They are divided into different colors in the middle which are lunar and solar calendars.The logo,days,azimuth,Japanese numbers,there are so much writings and all are done in very artistically.Please enjoy all on more details. Due to age and use,all have some flaws,there are some patina,stains,tears on the rims and they are folded and one sheet got brown from age,but as a whole they are in very good conditions. This set will be great wall decoration! *The smallest hikifuda might not be lithographed.
