This is a large lithograph Hikifuda(handbill) dated Meiji 32(1,899).Hikifuda is a small handbill used to advertise shops and products to customers and calendar like this is handed out during new year.This custome started during the middle of Edo era and designs bacame very elaborated.This is from dyeing and weaving store. It is divided nicely in the middle which are lunar and solar calendars.The unique logo,days, Japanese numbers,azimuth,there are so much writings and all are done in very artistically.Please enjoy all on more details. There are some brown stains and slight tears around the rims,and it is folded,so there are lines,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will be charming art on the empty wall for your home!
