*Because of size,shipping to USA will by only by EMS. This is a exotic buddhist Chozu,washbasin used at temple dated around early to mid.1,900s. Chozu is usually located near the entrance since we wash hands before praying.The handle on top of cover is decorated with fantastic shishi and the whole body is covered with tradtional religious motif and ancient patterns. The handles on both sides have traditional Kimen. Water inside is supposed to spout out from the dragon's mouth( the thing on top of dragon head looks like faucet,but it is just a decoration). Unfortunately, the spigot part is closed so tightly and could not open at all, so water could not come out from dragon's mouth. We wish we could open the part but because of the age, it seems the part is now stuck.
It is really beautifully made and details of dragon,shishi and every patterns are just breath taking,so PLEASE enjoy all details on more pictures! Due to age,weathering and material it totally gets green which shows fantastic aged patina and there are some scratches,stains,and one of the ear of shishi and rim on the open area of lower basin have slight splits,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This exceptional piece will be such an amazing accent in your garden for sure!
