This is a wooden tray with coated on urushi done by Sanuki techinique dated around late 1,900s. Sanuki is from Kagawa prefecture which is one of the most famous place for producing fine urushi and well known for applying urushi over and over on natural Japanese pine wood.This simple tray is elegantly coated on fine red and corners are nicely trimed making gentle curves. On the back shows natural wooden color and beautiful tall legs are attached. Having no decoration emphasizes this simple beauty. There are slight scratches,and made out of one solid hard wood,the both ends are slightly warped,and some legs are unstable,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will be perfect stand for your art objects!
