This is a woodblock print of Toyohara Kunichika (1835–1900) reprinted around 1,970s. It was originally made in Meiji 11(1,878). This is a picture of Bunmei Kaika. In 1853, an American flotilla of ships landed in Tokyo Bay, and pressured Japan’s feudal government, the bakufu, to open the country to external trade and visitors. The Tokugawa shoguns had kept the country closed to foreign contacts for the past 250 years. After the Japanese government signed a treaty with the United States, treaties with other Western governments soon followed. Japan was now “open,” and there was a sudden infusion of Western influences into the country. That is Bunmei Kaika,so she has modern technnology, camera. He fabulous kimono, colors, facial expressions, all are just breath taking! Again,it is a reprint, but it is done by high skills to have this fine details. Please enjoy all details on more pictures. There are not any prominet flaws. It will be fabulous wall decoration! *Print is attached on the right side. *We have one more same print in the stock. |
