This is a Joruri book dated Taisho 2(1,913).
This book is used at the traditional performing arts of Kabuki and ningyo joruri (puppet play) by men who chant the tales with music.
Chanters usually have emotional tone which add great flows to the dramas.
Amazingly, this book is all woodblock printed by using method of Maru-moji which is calligraphic writing with rounded characters.
This book is a story of Akegarasu Yukino Akebono which talks about happenings in Yoshiwara.
It consists of 61 pages with handsome covers and titles.
Due to use, there are some patina, stains and some red writings(this is also woodblock printed),closed pages for memorizing purpose, papers on the outside covers are getting thin, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
Again, beautiful and artistic writings are just incredible and definitly will be fantastic accent on your coffee table!
