This is a Joruri book dated Meiji 45(1,912). This book is used at the traditional performing arts of Kabuki and ningyo joruri (puppet play) by men who chant the tales with music. Chanters usually have emotional tone which add great flows to the dramas. Amazingly,this book is all woodblock printed by using method of Maru-moji which is calligraphic writing with rounded characters. This book is a story of Honcho Niyju Shikou which talks about Kenshin Uesugi and Shingen Takeda during war period. It consists of 39 pages with handsome covers and titles. Due to use, there are some patina,stains and some writings and papers for memorizing purpose,slightly folded in the middle,but as a whole it is in very good condition. Again,beautiful and artistic writings are just incredible and definitly will be fantastic accent on your coffee table!
