This is a Joruri book dated Meiji 41(1,908). This book is used at the traditional performing arts of Kabuki and ningyo joruri (puppet play) by men who chant the tales with music. Chanters usually have emotional tone which add great flows to the dramas. Amazingly,this book is all woodblock printed by using method of Maru-moji which is calligraphic writing with rounded characters. This book is a story of one of the most famous story,Chushin gura.It consists of 43 pages with handsome covers and titles. Due to use, there are some patina,some writings for memorizing purpose,folded corners,and stains on upper areas,but as a whole it is in very good condition. Again,beautiful and artistic writings are just incredible and definitly will be fantastic accent on your coffee table!
