This is a set of Bonseki set including miniature houses and dated around 1,920 to 1,960s(this person must have been collecting).
Bonseki is the creation of miniature landscapes on rectangular or oval black lacquer trays.It is made primarily of sand and stone,pebbles,and bonseki sceneries are like three dimensional paintings that seem to mysteriously pulse with the movements of nature and carry both artist and viewer into an inner depth that belies expression which started around over 560 years ago.There are fantastic figures,men on the boats,cranes,and other decorations used in bonseki tray.All are really perectly made and just so interesting!There are various tools like mesh,feathers to creat moon,waves,etc and stones to make moutains or cliff and different sands.
There are additional 35 pictures drawn by hand and photes of bonseki which probaby this artist created.

Since it is so fine and fragile,there is a slight damage on the foot of man on the boat and sands,and papers have many stains and patina,got very stiff,and metals are rusty,but all still have exceptional details and as a whole,all are in good conditions.
This will be wonderful art you will definitly enjoy!
*Size above is the size of man fish on the raft(you can imagine how tiny they are!)
*We are not sure about some materials of figures.
*The tray is just used to place all,so to enjoy bonseki,usually black oval or rounded tray are used,so please let us know if you don't need this tray for less shipping. |
