This is a shuro which is portable hand warmer from around late 1,800s to early 1,900s.Inside is for sumi(charcoal) and the removal cover has an opening for air to come out. This shuro has decorations of Kiku-zukushi,full of various chrysantemum which is really auspicious. The cover has elegant openwork and handle is covered with flowers,even on the back of handle!,2 areas where handles are attached on the bottom are covered with chrysanthemum with leaves so artistically,all are nothing but chrysanthemum!!! In order to have incredible carvings,it is required to use really thick copper,so every carvings have great dimentional effects and HEAVY!It comes with small pair of chopstickes to pick charcoal. It is done in full details carved by hand carefully,so PLESE enjoy all details on more pictures. Due to use and material,it gets rusty and inside is ashy from charcoal(ash become solid,but digging them might get crackes and be able to remove),but considering its age, it is in extremly good condition. This exqusite piece will be the best eye-catching home decor! *Please understand in advance that inside solid ahs might get cracked during transporation and might get ashy when you open the box.
