This is a Taisho koto,named after Taisho because it was originally made in Taisho era(1910-1920) and this is dated around mid.to late 1,900s. Taisho koto is composed of 5 strings and the music notes for taisho koto are normally expressed as the combinations of numbers and symbols.To play, press the key with a finger of your left hand and make the sound by the pick held with your right hand fingers. Move your right hand fingers so as to draw the circle-down stroke or up stroke and the little finger is not used normally.That is too bad that you can not hear these cute sounds,but it has similar sound to koto. (This still needs to tune out). There are peaceful traditional pictures on top and has a cover on the side.It also comes in hard case with keys,so it is practical to carry it around. There are some scratchs,stains and metals are rusty,and does not come with a pick(any pick will do),but as a whole it is in very good condition and still functions well. This will be a really enjoyable musical instrument for your home!
