This container from Showa 14(1,939)is Itto-masu which was used to measure rice (round bar was used to make it even on top after putting rice).It has wonderful ebisu,one of the seven god and charming stamps of manufacturer and the one on the bar indicates that it is from Kyoto. This is made out of thick cypress wood cut into pieces to make it around connected by metal frames. Please enjoy all details on more pictures. Due to age and heavy use,and frames are getting rusty,and there are some scratches,stains,holes,but all are sweet history and as a whole it is in very good condition showing lovely patinass thoughout.This has very firm construction,so it will be ideal as a planter,storage for magazines!
