This is a rare flower vase dated around 1,920s with Momotaro motif.
Not like regular flower vase,this shape and details are just incredible.
Momotaro is called Peach boy in English and one of the most famous folk tales.Momotaro was born from momo(peach) and raised by old couple.He went to fight the ogres on Ogre Island with other animals.This is the scene on the way to fight the ogres,so there are mototaro with dog and pheasant on the boat.
The boat is sailing nicely splashing waves on the bottom and has momo on the cavas.There are beautiful pine trees and moutnains on the back.Looking at it carefully,both retainers wear traditional kimono and he lifts his arm and looking at ahead.He has sword aside and raise banner which has momo logo,too.
The other side has two ogres checking with telescope standing on seashore and there are thick door where they live and handsome pine tree behind,and wonderful waves on the bottom.
Ogres are in typical costumes and facial expressions,bodies,all are really outstanding.
All are happening on the urn and one of the retainer of Momotrao,monkeies are holding this urn.
One reaches one arm to the handle of urn and other sits on the bottom with momo in the hand! and back of vase has big monkey which puts urn on the head.
Every hairs are so rich and their nails,rounded eyes,even teeth,aren't they just so wonderful???!!!

Due to age,some colors came off and rusty and one of the monkey's hand has slight split and rims on top are worn out,and some scratches and stains,but as a whole it is in very good condition.
This is flower vase,but it can be excellent display art and deinitly will be the best eye-catching home decor!
