This is a Hanakago, bamboo basket for Ikebana dated around 1,930s. Not like regular basket, this basket has wonderful opening in the middle connected as outstanding handles. The body is woven horizintally and pieces of 4 bamboos are woven vertically over them to make it stablizes as frame. Upper basket is woven intricatelly which leaves nice circle in the middle which looks like a bird's nest!? and top of handle are bound with 3 knods. In order to make this fabulous shape,it required high skilles,so please enjoy all details on more pictures!! A few thin bamboo and bent areas are getting split, and few ends are chipped and soem areas are difficult to clean, and the bottom of legs has slight flaws, but considering its fragility, this is in a really good conditions. This basket with aged patina is great to add to your basket collections!
