This is a Suin-jou,book collecting red stamps from shirines started Showa 58(1,983) consists of 81pages and additional pages without anything.Originally, during Heian period, worshipper went to shrines to pray for being a good health and got this stamps as a proof of worships.This special book will be completed after visiting many shrines(Can you see how many they are!).This is a pilgrimage of moslty eighty-eight temples in Mino(Gifu prefecture). There are 88 pilgrims(They are not in order,but seems like he made it)and has all have beautiful calligraphic writings by hands and stamps. Completing this,it is said to save the believer from hell and to open the gates to everlasting life. It has some patina,stains,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This is so different from any books and will be unique home decor for sure!
