This is Kashigata, wooden mold for sweets mixing sugar and soy made for congratulatory occasions from Nagoya(stamped) dated arond 1,940s. Top piece mold has cutout shape of bottom part outline and has holes to fit bottom part in.Its fish is sea bream fish ('tai'), which is considered to have the meaning of gratuity.Every scale,fin,even mouth are carved in full details done by hand care fully just like a real!Please enjoy all on more pictures.It has some scratches,stains and having really thick wood,insid fine carvings started to split,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This Tai fish comes in much larger than regular kashigata and will be the best eye-catching art and bring some happiness to your home!
