This is a Joruri book dated Meiji 42(1,909). This book is used at the traditional performing arts of Kabuki and ningyo joruri (puppet play) by men who chant the tales with music. Chanters usually have emotional tone which add great flows to the dramas. Amazingly, this book is woodblock printed by using method of Maru-moji which is calligraphic writing with rounded characters. This book has a story of famous Igagoe Dochu. It consists of 35 pages with handsome covers and titles. Due to use, there are some patina, stains, holes, some writings to remember phrases(red ones are woodblock printed) and covers have flaws, but as a whole it is in very good condition. Again, beautiful and artistic writings are just incredible and definitly will be fantastic accent on your coffee table!
