This is a O-uchiwa,big fan from one of the finest department store,Takashimaya dated Showa 59(1,984). This fan have been presented every year with different designs to special regular customer and wealthy family kept them every year and sometimes they come to our market. In Japan, special customers of department store is called 'gaisho', and becoming 'gaisho' customers of Takashimaya and other top-ranking department store has been one of the social status. This is printed on fine paper and the picture is Shoukou Uemura(1902-2001). It comes with hook to place fan with incense smell and comes in paper box. Due to age and material, there are some patina on the back of fan,also on the box,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will be a wonderful wall decoration!
