This is a pair of kendai (book stand or lectern for theatre used by the chanter) for Jyoruri(chanted story or drama) dated Showa 34(1,959).It is made out of 3 parts,top has a thin bar across to place a book,bar in the middle and legs and all fantastic cut-outs in the middle and bottom to fit in perfectly. This Kendai is jointed by perfect joineries and 2 tones wooden colors and wooden grains are really gorgeous.This is collapsible,so it is perfect to store. Please enjoy all details on more pictures. It comes in an original wooden box and individual cloth to wrap. It has stain on top of board since books are placed and some flaws around the areas where they are jointed,and some chips and scratches around the rims and the cover of box has a crack along the rim,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will be great as a music stand! *The top can just slide them in and because of the way they are made,top board can not stay still if there are really heavy things on top.
