The is a large Soroban(abacus),mechanical aid used for counting dated around 1,960's.It is not a calculator in the sense we use the word today,it is typically constructed of various types of hardwoods and comes in varying sizes.The frame of the abacus has a series of vertical rods on which a number of wooden beads are allowed to slide freely.This is mainly constructed with wood(the rods are plastic).There are some stains and scratches,chips,some rods are damaged, but all are history and as a whole it is in very good condition. This is probably used at school as a teaching material and perfect material to study soroban with your children or just outstanding mingei wall decoaration!
