This is a wooden kaki,flower vase for Ikebana coated on urushi dated around 1,930s. This high end flower vase comes in much larger than any regualr vase with family crest of Kuyou. This Kuyou family crest was used by famous daimyo, feudal lord Hosokawa clan(it has a name Sakurada who should be a family of his),but it originally represents the solar system.The cirlce in the middle is the sun and 8 others are planets. Octagonal vase is colored in amazing colors.Lower part has traditional Negoro urushi touch and upper part is designed with 3 carved lines and ornated pieces of are attached are attached on every corners on on the stand.Because it is high end,even the back on the bottom is finely coated on urushi. This looks so simple,but there are so much details to it.Please enjoy all details on more pictures. It comes in fantastic original wooden box which have matching family crest on the cover. It has a stamp,also on the box. There are some scratches,and coatings came off,and the box has some flaws and the cover is hard to open and close,but considering its age and use,this is almost in a perfect condition. This dramatic vase will definitly worth adding to your collections!
