This Kekesuzuri(writing and document box) is made of only solid Keyaki(Zelkova) wood (even inside)with gorgeous patina dated around early 1,900s or earlier. There is a storage on top to store ink stone and writing materials. The wood to store ink stone is nicely cut to fit perfectly which is removable.2 different size of drawers are made in small and long to store brushes and papers. All hardwares add additional patinas to it and they are all originals.Amazing part is fabulous traditioanl joineries done by high skills. The corners have traditioanl joineries including the drawers inside! It has handsome lockplates and ring pulls, also traditional handles called Warabite and thick metal on top which gives special look to it. Please enjoy details on more pictures. You can see this history looking at ink spill in the drawers. There are some scratches, slight cracks on the corner around the joinery since it is made by hard wood, and one of the ring on the back of drawer is missing and the top cover can not close perfectly since kind of the bottton to unlock is missing( we can close it pushing with long stick, but is just too hard),and the bottom drawer is hard to puu and push, but as a whole it is in very good condition considering the age and use. This will be perfect piece for your organizer!
