This is a refined Shihou--dana(tana),tea shelf used for tea ceremony dated around late 1,900s. Each type of tana has its own name and vary considerably in size, style, features and materials. They are placed in front of the host in the tea room, and various tea implements are placed on, or stored in, them. This style of shelf is called Shihou-dana simply means square shelf. Top and bottom parts, also 2 bars in the middle and additional parts on the bottom can be assemble which is so practical.2 parts on top and bottom are decorated with fine lines and this sheld looks so simple, but there are a lot of details on it.Please enjoy all details on more pictures. There are slight stains, and one bar on the bottom should have a hole to stick a small part in,but there is not any hole(you might make a hole by yourself!?),so it make small gap between them, but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will be perfect for your tea practice or fine display shelf for your home! *The pictures are upside down, the surfaces with patterns should be on top.
