This is a Hibachi(Hand warmer) with fine wood attached on the base made by master of goldsmith,Gorosaburou Kanaya(This is probably 9th or 10th Gorosaburo) dated Meiji era.First Gorosaburo was born in the begining of Edo era in Kyoto as goldsmith, mainly worked in tea ceremony field. Thisis traditionally used to burn charcoals and wood ash for indoor. Both sides of hibachi has auspociou motifs which are weasels and squirrels. Smiling werasel, crouching suirrel, grains of trees, and flowers are so enjoyable.Nicely carved shape with detailed handles which look like elephants makes this so special. It comes with an original wooden box signed by crafteman on the cover.Becaues this is really finely made having thick construction, this is really heavy! Due to age and material,it is getting greener and rusty and some flaws on the box,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This motif is so unusual and perfect to use for a planter or just to dispaly as elegant home decor! *We have more than one hibachi in our stock,so please aks if you need more than one, also please understand that every conditions are different.
