This rare Kattusya(well pulley) is used for drawing water from a well dated Meiji 21 (1,908 ).Well pully is made our of only Keyaki wood which is one of the finest wood showing wonderful grains throughout and it is made without any nails.The inside of groove in the wheel, where the rope would run through.Both wheels still moves perfectly. It is so interesting that one side has rounded stick for wheel and other side has square! Because keyaki is very hard wood,there are some small cracks,and there are some scratches and dents,but all are history! This will be so lovely to hang from ceiling or display in the garden,and this has nice warmth only Mingei has!
