This is Yakan,kettle used for tea ceremoney made of Tokin dated early 1,900's. Tokin is gilding of an amalgam of mercury and gold applied to the surface of the metal with a copper spatula. The mercury evaporates when heated, leaving the surface gilded with gold. It has fantastic golden color and decorated with seasonal traditional flowers and there are butterfly above. The knob on top has chrysanthemum shape and base on the bottom.Please enjoy all details on more pictures. Due to age and material,it is getting rusty and greener which gives fabulous aged patina throught and there are some scratches,but considering its age,this is in a very good condition including inside of it. This piece will add great charm to your home for sure!
