This is a traditional musical instrument called Yagumo-koto which is a two-stringed Japanese zither dated Meiji 30(1,897).Yagumo-koto is played for kagura,sacred music and dancing performed at shrines,so it is requried to be in Shiro-shozoku,white clothing when it is played.
It is made hollowing out paulwonia wood and there are 31 spots(seems more) to press which are designed in Chidori,plover figures and these numbers are made the same number as Waka(a traditional Japanese poem).On both ends,there are fantastic tasseles with crystals and decorated with beautiful fabrics.
Every parts have special meaning and made in full details.On the back has sweet cut-out of fill moon and cresent and has an original sticker of store.
There is an additional wooden board which has cut-out of plovers.This is originally a part of stand to place koto on top,and it is required to put it on stand in order to play this,but due to age,this comes in only a part of stand.There are 2 types of yagumo-koto which are Kai-kin and Sei-kin and this is one of higest quality Seikin-yagumo koto from Osaka.It has gorgeous wooden grain throughtout with fine detais,so PLEASE enjoy all on more pictures.
It comes in an original handsome wooden box and some accessories.
Due to use and age,stringes are not attached properly and one end of wooden box is damaged,and 2 white dots came off from the koto,and some white dots have cracks,and tassels and fabrics on the koto have some flaws, but as awhole it is in very good condition.
This stunning piece will be fantastic to hang on the wall!
