This is a kettle used for tea ceremoney called Mizu-tsugi dated around late 1,900's.This is usually used to add water to kama(iron pots used to heat water to make tea) or pour water to water jar and having a cover on the spout or not depends on what school you belong,and this kind which bottom part gets darken is called Koshi-kuro(black around the waist) and tea master,Rikyu favored this style.As it is named after the way it colored,it has beautiful tones of black and reddish brown and nicely rounded shape is so adorable. There are some scratches and colors came off and there are some stains,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will be perfect flower vase or just simple art piece for your home! *This can not put on oven.
