This is a wooden carving called Jaki dated Edo.
Jaki usually appears in sculptures as small figures being crushed under the feet of the Four Heavenly Kings shitennou (Warrior Demigods). Early examples like those in Houryuuji in Nara shows the jaki crouching squarely on all fours supporting the statue,also good examples are the shitennou in Toudaiji in Nara.They are considered to be benevolent demons and work for Shintennou and drove troublesome demons away.

It raise both arms so high to resist,frownes face since it is stepped.His fantastic facial expression with superb eys,nicely rounded body specially his belly!,rought rocks,all are just breath taking.He is a demon,but creats a charming atmosphere with gorgesous aged patina.Please enjoy every details on more pictures!
Originally,this jaki was coated with many colors which are gold,red,white,etc,but due to age,they are mostly gone,but can still some and the wooden stand on the bottom should be added later and there are some cracks and glass on his left eye is damaged,and there are figure on top,so it has hole on the head and hands on top,but considering its age,it is in very good condition.
Some lines around the face and body are not cracks,and they are from the way it is constructed which can been see a lot from old buddha figures.
This is EXTERMEMLY rare(first time I have ever seen in my life!) and not only the exceptional home decor,but also will be the best guardian for your home!
