This is a tetsubin(Iron Kettle) from famed maker Ryubundo who was establised around 1,770s in Kyoto and it is dated around early 1,900s. It is decorated in relief with lovely bird flying freely next to probably bamboo tress. The floral knob is sitting on top with 4 petals shaped base and the back of cover is signed Ryubundou. The long handle makes fine curve attached nicely on the kettle. It is rusty throughout specailly inside and the cover gets greener, but all give fabulous aged patina to it,also the rim of spout is slightly damaged, but considering the age and use, this is in a good condition. This has the best wabi-sabi touch and will be the best home decor!
