This is a okimono of Hebi(snake) ornament made of wood(hard to specify, but should be some kind of hard wood)dated mid.1,900s. There are a pair of snakes rolling up and the one on top opens the mouth slightly and the bottom one is going down to the ground sneakly. Both have fabulous textures and they look so real having even eyes(one of them are made of probably resin and other are drawn by ink).Inside is hollowed out and probably used to display objects on top having flat surface. It is not only interesting snakes, but also this amazing wooden texture done by nature is just a pice of art!It comes with wooden board. Please enjoy all on more pictures. Due to material, some woods are getting separated and have some cracks specially on the board(some might be originally done by natural cause)and the one on the board has been fixed adding additional wood, and there are some scratches and some colors came off,but as a whole it is in very good condition. It will be intersting art for your home!
