This is a modern wooden kougou(container for incense) used to contain the moist and kneaded incense in Fu-Ro season to get rid of smell of charcoal at tea room during tea ceremony.It is nicely rounded coated on beautiful urushi and there are a pair of horse. The horse of the zodiac symbolizes abundant fertility. The horse is the seventh sign of the Japanese zodiac. They are by the water and fabulous silver and gold colors look wonderul on black glow and long mane and tails and cute eye looking staright,all are just piece of art! The back of the cover have a running horse done totally in black like a shadow in black. This urushi is called Migaki(simply means polishing). It has to go through many processes before it is finished and at last,it is polished with palm and finger cushion,so it has stunning shinning colors.Please enjoy every details on more pictures. It has a stamp Nanzan on the bottom and comes with an signed wooden box.There are very slight scratches,but it is in almost perfect condition.This will be fabulous home decor!
