This is a kougou(container for incense) used to contain the moist and kneaded incense in Ro season (from November through April) to get rid of smell of charcoal at tea room during tea ceremony dated late 1,900s.It is from one of the famous pottery, Kutani(Located in Ishikawa prefecture). It has a shape of unique pagoda.The top has religious decoration and the bottom is nicely attached. It is done with fabulous kutani colors throughout. It has a stamp,Kutani on the bottom. There are some slight stains,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This will befabulous home decor!
