This is a a covered bowl from Oribe pottery dated around mid.1,900's. Oribe is high-fired ware that originated around 1600. This style is named after tea master and warrior Furuta Oribe (1545-1615) and is characterized by intricate colorful geometric patterns. This is called Jiki-ro,originally used to store food and designed in such a lovely shape like a flower having trimed corners.There are curled small tripot on the bottom and bowl has the typical design of Oribe, thick green dripping glaze,and interesting designs throughout.It really has wonderful warm touch and details.Please enjoy all on more pictures.There is a stamp on the bottom and comes in a wooden box. There are slight stains,and box is worn out,but there are no chips or cracks.This will be perfect for your sweets on the coffee table!
