This is a set of Seiro,steaming frame dated mid.1,900s or earlier.5 seiros are stacked one on top of the other and placed over a kettle of boiling water usually to make mochi(rice cake).All are made of thick cypress wood jointed by traditional woodwork wihch use no nails.Frames with wooden slates sit on square stand and hole for steams to come up all way up. Most of them are worn out due to use,have scratches, stains,burned marks,cracks specially the bottom one,but this set still functions well and could be a perfect table. This can be used individually with mingei touch and can be an excellent side table,too!
