Because of size, it will be shipped to USA only by EMS. This is a wooden lid for a rice container dated around early 1,900s.It is made out of thick solid wood with wondeful grain.(probably pine) used for super large rice container. This has really thick 2 bars on top and attached with wonderful details.2 outstanding tsuno(horn) are sticking out and middle area has beautifully carved and inside has chaming upside down heart design. The top section smoothly slides into the round section using tongue-and-groove joinery which is so hard to do perfectly like this. Becaues it has been used in the kitchen or above charcoal,it got darken, gained fabulous patina on reddish urushi coating.Due to wood and age, there are many cracks and desnts with scratches, also the end of horns are damaged(maybe it was dropped since it is so heavy!),but all turned into charming characters!(can see the burned mark from being placed above hot container from bottom!).This size is so rare and can be convered to lovely side table adding legs or just piece of Mingei art! *Because of size, shipping will be only be EMS.
