This is a printed sekiban,cardboard notebook dated from Taisho era(1910-1920's).After 1,930,pencil and notebook took place after sakiban and it was no longer used.This has the advantage of practice repeatedly erasing things inside,but could not keep the records,so it was used for schoolchildren in the lower grades;therefore, it had very interesting illustrations and useful information.This front cover has a picture of Ninomiya Sontoku( 1787-1856), was a prominent 19th century Japanese agricultural leader who was born to a poor peasant family but became a great landowner and aid to the shogunate and daimyo. Born in a poor farmer family reading a book while carrying a bundle of firewood on his back, Sontoku studied on his own as he worked hard for his family. Later in life, he was recruited by various daimyo to run oversee village restoration projects. Even to this day, he tends to be regarded as a symbol of hard work and perseverance.The back page has a schedule of classes and first emperor,Jinmu-emperor.Due to age, there are some patinas and rims are worn out,but as a whole it is in very good condition. This notebook definitly will add a charm to your house!
