This is Cho-Tansu(small merchant box, used to place on the desk to store stationery at store with lockplates) made of cypress with copper hardwares dated around early 1,900s.There are 3 different sizes of drawers and an rounded locklates on the lower drawer. This is really nicely constructed, all joints have dovetail joints and inside are jointed by wooden nails. Due to age and use,it is worn out,and one of the wood on the back is getting separated, but all are sweet history and as a whole,it is in very good condition. This will be perfect to store small things like stationely, jewelry or artisan material or nice small side table!
