Kakejiku(Scroll) was admired while vertically hung on the wall to represent Buddhist figures or sutra rolled up for portability in Heian period(794-1185) , and it become various sizes and pictures to
calligraphy being related to tea ceremony. The subject depicted on the scroll was selected to suit the season or occasion and
took a great part of development of art.
Byobu (Folding screens two to six connected panels ) is traditionally used not only as a room partition but also as a decoration.In the Azuchi-Momoyama Period(1573-1603) they were used to spread to the warrior class and to the common people. The sides are usually covered with paper, whit on one side and other side has classical Japanese paintings of scenery,birds,flowers and trees.At tea ceremony, both sides are painted(finished) to be seen from any angles.
