Brazier

Hibachi is consisited of 2 word,Hi as fire, and Bachi as bolw. The hibachi was originally used as portable simple brazier with charcoal in to heat home and due to burning it in home, there are many old pieces which got darken from smoke.Around Edo period (1600-1868) craftsmen started making more decorative hibachi with lacquered,makie inlaid,and artistic designs and majority of hibachi were changed to copper,ceramic,and metal instead of traditional wood. Hibachi was not noly used as heater,people sat around it to socialize talking over the hot tea and smoking tabacoo.
